If you have more space, consider a U-shape, curved, or helical staircase.

Half–turn staircases consist of two straight parallel flights connected by 180 degree turn . They are also called U-shaped stairs.
Helical or curved staircases don't require a central column and come in many different styles.
Combination or mixed staircases have a spiral staircase with an entrance or exit with straight steps.
